Faster delivery, much wider selection, and you pay the current exchange rate, rather than the (outdated) Canadian price on so many items. Only downside is that electronics, etc. can't be shipped to Canada.

Bought Sennheiser HD201 Headphones for $10 when it was normally $25. It wasn't listed as their 'deal' special either. Wish I bought more then one. It turned out to be very good. I bought other things to bring up to $25 total and had a US address so shipping was for free.

I've made numerous purchases from Amazon.com over the years.. and have always been pleased by their product selection and speed/cost of the delivery. It's unfortunate that Amazon.ca doesn't have the same product variety as their business south of the border.. Purchases from Amazon.com usually take 1-2 weeks (max) to receive.. and occasionally, there's duty fees upon arrival (but, not always)..

Exceptional service brings me back

Overall, a really good place to pick up movies. It would be nice to see them start selling more than just movies, books and cds to Canada.
Excellent prices for DVDs when you purchase during their buy one get one sales. In many cases, it's still cheaper to buy from them than in Canadian stores despite expensive shipping options from Amazon.com.
Product selection is huge, you're likely to find something on their site that you won't see locally, especially if you're into fringe movies.
There's virtually never taxes or duty charged when you purchase from them since they ship out of Ontario warehouses.
Exceptional customer service. I have never had to wait more than one day for a reply via email. In fact, their agents have made multiple emails to me to try and resolve a defective item issue I ran into. At the end, they refunded me with no hassle. This is mainly the reason why I go back.

I purchased 3 "20oz stainless steel travel mug" off of Amazon.com. When I recieved them I realized that apparently amazon's version of a travel mug was a little different than mine. They were in fact stainless steele 20oz thermoses. I believe that it was purchased through a third party off of amazon.com, but still anoying!

Ordered a HD-DVD drive before christmas, for an amazing deal(at the time!).. Well, Blu-ray won the HD wars, and shortly after Amazon gave me a credit of $50 towards any furture order. Pretty sweet, I think.

Due to the recent jump in the CAD, I've made many purchases recently via amazon.com. Had shipments sent to a friend and/or US mailbox. One of my orders never shipped and I had a tough time trying to contact customer service to cancel the order. I had waited 3 weeks and it didn't even ship. Website said it was "in stock".
I would also avoid purchasing from their marketplace sellers since this is sort of like an ebay seller, except that there's no real penalty for poor sellers.

Tracking numbers don't work.
Where's My Stuff section was no help.
That said, it's got the widest selection and often the best price.
If free shipping cutoff was lowered from $39 to $20 I'd shop more often. Right now I shop online as a last resort after striking out at the B&M stores.

I sometimes check the .ca and .com site. I find the .com site often has better prices when I factor in GST. The problem is, not all products can be shipped to Canada and I sometimes get hit with customs. Try to ship with FedEx to waive getting hit with unexpected customs charges. I ordered a textbook once and was able to reverse the order without a problem. I found the book cheaper through the publisher. I like how you can get more than just books and software on the .com site.
