Great newsletters - lots of sales - and they keep you informed. My order was late, so they not only emailed me, they called me at home and left a personal message. And I just love the order form - when I click back to it - it shows little pictures of all the items I ordered!

I recently ordered a top from the clearance section. The order went through fine but even like 5 days after the order status showed as "open" and no shipping info. I called the 800 line and waited on average 10 minutes to speak to someone. They are very friendly but wait time was very long. They recently changed their systems and international orders were halted with no estimated time of delivery. I asked if my shipping ($14) could be refunded since this was not alerted to me when ordering and the girl said she would refund it. I got my top about 3-4 weeks after ordering. The product is great however communication with the customers was not very smooth. I emailed them to ask about my order status and didn't receive a response in the given time of 3 business days.

I had a good experience ordering from jcrew.com, but I'm hesitant to shop there regularly. Shipping to canada is expensive (although you can sometimes find discount codes). Jcrew charges tax based on the price of your items, not on its weight. So one lightweight item, if expensive, could cost a lot more in shipping than you'd expect. Also, they charge tax on the subtotal AND the shipping costs. The one thing that I was happy with was that I knew the duty I would have to pay in advance. UPS man showed up with my delivery and I paid what I expected. With the high shipping costs and taxes, I would only order from jcrew.com if there's something I really wanted.

The company took two approaches to searching for an item that had sold out at the store I was visiting: first by phoning every store in the continental US and then by catalogue search. When I had all but given up on ever getting the item, it was located. Not sure how, but they did it.

Really nice clothes and great service. I received a sweater that ripped after one wearing, and they took it back no problem, and sent a replacement, express post and no charge.

I took advantage of J.Crew's final sale with free shipping to Canada and I couldn't be more delighted. My order arrived in just a few days and it was exactly as advertised. I am particularly happy to see J.Crew offering free shipping to Canada since they are a US-based store with no physical presence in Canada. I hope more retailers start following suit.
