Fast delivery, but no invoice

I bought a GPS from staples.ca. The shipping was fast (next day). But for some reason, they don't issue invoice. That spells trouble if you ever need to send back the unit for repair.

This store is GOING TO FAIL YOU!

I bought a WD passport essential 500 GB on boxing day for 90.31. four days later (today), I was contacted buy this girl saying the supply of this model is stopped, and she can sell me a seagate 500GB for 129.99(I pay the difference). F me but thats like ...um...what do you call that? The f regular price!! and it does not have the features of WD passport what so ever. Another option would be "Im sorry to cancel your order". What is going on? How can this f store ruin all the fun of boxing day online shopping? This is insane!
And to be honest, staples.ca has the worst online store interface compare to other major ones.

Fast delivery

I wasn't able to find the items I wanted at the store near me so I went online. I ordered a Microsoft Sidewinder X3 mouse and a Viewsonic 8" digital photo frame on Monday and it arrived on Tuesday.

Staples delivery services are unreliable and questionable

I ordered an ipod touch from staples.ca. My order was expected for delivery the next business day. However, t waited at home the entire day expecting my package, but it never came. At that point, I thought my package would arrive the next day for sure. Again, I stayed home and still nothing.

At 5pm on the second day, I called staples to find out where my order was. I was informed by the customer service representative that my item was delivered and someone signed for it!! WHO SIGNED FOR IT? It certainly wasn't my signature since I was home for BOTH DAYS!!!

They are unable to track it nor give me a copy of who signed for my package. How am I suppose to trust staples?!? My item is worth over $200 and yet they can't offer me tracking? What if I were to order something that's worth thousands of dollars?!?

Right now, all they can do is expedite my problem to operations. I don't know if they can find my package or will give me a refund.

I would avoid staples at all cost. I purchased my item from staples to save a few bucks, but after this experience, I would much rather pay full price for an item I would actually get!

The question is: who took my package? The delivery guy? I mean, my package obviously made it on the truck, but no one has seen the package since then...hmmmm.....

Awful Price Match on Website

I bought some RAM and Apple earphones (remote & mic) on the Staples.ca website and used my $20 coupon - the goods were delivered the next day as promised, no problems there. I then found a lower price on the earphones on the Apple.ca website (of all places), and phoned up Staples.ca customer service for price match. They refuse to honour it as they quote that since Apple did not have a next day or free delivery policy, they will have to add a delivery charge ($16 or $26 I can't remember) to compare the prices. I said I can just walk over to the Apple Store right then (just down the street from me) and get the price, but they won't accept that. They then said even if they matched the price, it would bring me below the $150 level and so I wouldn't be able to use the $20 coupon.

To me, this is ridiculous especially when I have been a regular customer on their site, and it just only ticks people off when the difference was only about $11. I promptly returned everything in my order to a local Staples Store (whom I called first to confirm I can return there, but later on tells me I couldn't when I arrived - eventually did comply but with a little attitude). I then bought the RAM (cheaper but different brand) and earphones from Future Shop who beat the Apple.ca price without even checking.

If Staples is listening, this is how you lose business when you treat a regular customer that way.

msi wind

I ordered a MSI wind from there web site with no issues. it showed up with in 48 hour of ordering it. A week later the power supply went all funny so I contacted the site to return it. They told me I had to return it to the store. I packed it up and took it back to the store only to be told I had to return it to the site since the store did not have my credit card #. I went home and call the site who told me the store was to return it. Returning to the store I freaked. They told me they could only give me a credit. I pointed to one of there signs that had there money back policy on it and demanded a refund. They called the web site and retreved my credit card # and did the refund.

Surprise Screw-up

I ordered a Laptop thru Staples.ca as a 'SURPRISE' for my sister on January 3, 2009. I ordered online and paid for the laptop by MY VISA and gave MY billing address and MY SISTER's shipping address. On January 4, 2009 my sister received a call from someone from Staples to ask if she wanted a warranty for the laptop she had ordered. My sister knew nothing about the laptop.

My sister didn't order or pay for the laptop...why would Staples call her and ask her if she wanted a warranty?

I called Staples (in Corner Brook, NL...the store that had called my sister asking if she wanted the warranty) and spoke with the manager on January 5th and vented some frustration over the situation. He was not helpful.

January 6th my sister received ANOTHER call from Staples asking her if she wanted the warranty. Again...my sister DID NOT pay for the laptop...why would she pay for a warranty???

I called Staples that night and spoke asked to speak to the manager because I wanted to either get a better price on the laptop for all the frustration and poor customer service. The manager would not consider any price reduction for their screw up.

I placed an order, all but one of the items arrived. Shipping took over 10 days. When I called to ask about the missing item, I was told that the item was out of stock. I was informed that they do not "back order" items, instead they would credit my credit card and I would have to re-order at a later date. I thought this a little odd. I think a retailer would want to have the opportunity to automatically fulfill the order rather than letting a paying customer (probably) take their business elsewere. But regardless, now I needed to get an invoice that reflected my transaction -- including the credit. Well, staples.ca "doesn't issue invoices, only packing slips". I was told it has "always been that way". I may be wrong, but the planet I do business on issues INVOICES for purchases. A packing slip is just that -- A PACKING SLIP. Does staples.ca not employ any certified accountants... who understand GAAP? Will a "packing slip" help me if I'm audited? I think not. All I want is an INVOICE that reflects my entire transaction. Why is it that this seemingly simple business concept is SO hard for them to understand? Where the heck did staples.ca get their billing system? I think staples.ca needs a REFUND.

Where\'s my order Staples?

First Staples didn't deliver mine when they said they would since the truck apparently ran out of time (thanks Staples for not calling to let me know and leaving me on hold for 20 mins when I called to find out)

Then Staples canceled my order and now claims that the driver tried to deliver it Friday but couldn't since my number was busy (the buzzer system is tied into the phone) when he came by (I'd bellieve that if that's what they told me the first time).

When I wrote to enquire why I was told two different reasons why the driver didn't come by I got a long winded statement that basically said poor communication between truck and warehouse.

They ended the mail with "We thank you for your patience in this matter". The word patience made me wonder if they were going to be be bringing in a replacement from another district (since it went out of stock after my order) however when I asked them that they said no however they invited me to continue to check their website for other products to purchase. How nice of them.

Bought a couple home phones from their online clearance section as posted on RFD. Prices were great. Website is difficult to navigate. Website has poor tracking information. The product was supposed to arrive on Aug 28. It is now Sept 1 still no sign of it.

I tried to buy this camera from the Young/King staples store. When i reached at store and asked if its in stock they mentioned that we have 2 in stock (manager mentioned) and he has locked those two. Then they asked me if i will buy any accessories with it and Protection plan. I said no, he went back and when came back he told me we are sold out (i could feel it was cheating). I ordered online and that experience was really good and fast.

Good overall

The selection of products, prices and free shipping on orders over $50 are all great features of this retailer. And when coupons are applied on top of their everyday prices, you can score an even better deal. All my orders have always been delivered the next business day and I've only once had a broken item delivered (a lamp with a glass shade) but it was replaced the next day after a quick call to Customer Service. The only thing I don't like about shopping from this website is that it doesn't tell you that an item is out of stock until you put it into your shopping cart. If an item is out of stock, it shouldn't allow you to place it into your shopping cart to begin with. Perhaps this doesn't bother other people but its a big pet peeve of mine. Other than that, Staples.ca is a good place to shop online for office supplies and office furniture.

A decent first experience

I think I was most satisfied with the online support provided. They were quite prompt in replying to my emails when I had questions about price matching, and other issues I had come across.
Always check the forums for a coupons, or better yet just sign up for their newsletters, and youre bound to get them reguarly in your inbox (well I'm assuming so seeing as I now do.)
The website isn't the best to deal with, but if you look well enough, sometimes you can find some good deals hidden under several links.

Don't buy their warranty plan they will offer you what they think your product replacement value is worth in my case $170 on a $270 purchase + $50 warranty cost. $320 I pay they offer $170 to replace after 1 year I could get more than that on ebay not working properly
