TERRIBLE. they just want your money

By: prodigee
Date: Aug 6, 2010

Comment:
So I just got cheated $20 from these guys. I purchased an external hard drive from this place and decided to return it the next day - unopened, and I get charged a goofy 15% restocking fee. For what? To walk and put it back onto the shelf? Ridiculous.

The workers in general are not very friendly and are not willing to help you either.

Not buying from this store ever again. These guys just want your money.

Slow Response

By: chibi_goten

Comment:
We deal with Anitec on a corporate level and their customer service is very subpar. It takes forever for them to respond to their emails if not responding to it at all. Also, when you try to leave them a message with their sales reps, they don't bother to call you back most of the time.

Buy at own risk

Comment:
ZERO returns/replacements on LCD monitors far as I can tell. or at least very limited. as stated you need to contact manufacturer.

Would not of bought my Phillips their if I would of realized how anal they are. should not be the customers fault/responsibility if a monitor has dead pixels etc IMO.

Poor Response to Defective Shipment of P2370HD Samsung Monitor

By: Rexie
Date: Jan 7, 2010

Comment:
Bought a Samsung P2370HD Monitor/TV from Anitec. It came with a partially functioning remote control. When called Anitec they referred me to Samsung for a resolution. They appear to show no accountability for shipping defective product.

Did not meet expectations

I ordered a laptop that had a great discount (25% off) on the website. I was confirmed with a receipt and confirmation. Later they told me it was out of stock and they could get the "newer" model to me at a discount. One week later they offered at 6% discount on a newer model which was $200 more expensive.

Anitec - Tax Cheat Consumers

By: paulpio
Date: Sep 27, 2008

Comment:
Upon purchasing the wrong model of motherboard i never even opened yhe box, and went back the next day to exhange the motherboard, they charged me a 15% restocking fee PLUS PST & GST. Since when do you pay PST on a restocking FEE?
I had the board for less than 24 hours, my mistake I grabbed the wrong model of board, I take it back first thin in the AM and they charge me 15% re-stocking fee, not even NCIX would do that.
By the British Columbia Tax Law PST can only be charged on an item and not a service like Re-Stocking FEE. This whole ordeal amounts to $20.44 Anitec would not waive the re-stocking fee citing Store policy, i will never again purchase anything from Anitec and am warning allconsumers to be wary of a retail store that cheats you in Taxes, not too mention an out rageouds restocking fee.

Anitec - good prices, bad service

By: canstar
Date: Jul 21, 2008

Comment:
Poor customer service especially in store. Not enough employees around to help you. Computer knowledge of individuals working there can be a bit sketchy at times. On the plus side the prices are good if you know what you're looking for.

Speedy service

By: porkchopbread
Date: May 14, 2008

I ordered an Asus eee from Anitec when it was sale on boxing day, 26th. They sent me an email saying I should expect to get it after New Years, but a couple days later, I got an email saying that it was available for in store pick up on the 28th - quicker than I expected. So I was really pleased.

Got into the store, picked it up pretty quick and was on my way out. Didn't exactly get service with a smile, but I got my product and I was happy enough.

Would definitely order from them again. Prices and products are good and in store pick up is a lot quicker than at other places in the Vancouver area - which makes a big difference!

Great service

By: bernZ
Date: Apr 2, 2008

Comment:
I can't understand all the negative comments. I've been a long time RFD contributer and, really now, does everyone expect their hand to be held for everything? It seems like people with bad experiences are blowing everything out of proportion.

Anyway, enough about my ranting of other reviews.

I initially bought a computer from Anitec two, maybe three weeks ago. I said to myself, great! A new system for (my sister, really). There were some minor issues with the computer not fully functioning, and I didn't exactly feel like troubleshooting it myself, so I brought it back to Anitec. While they state a ~ 3 business day turnaround, I was lucky enough that the technician there was able to finish repairing the computer in a day. He called me a day later, and said that my computer was ready for pick up.

Then I suddenly realized my sister wanted a nicer sound card, so I went and bought that, and asked if they wouldn't mind doing a quick install of the card for me + drivers. Again, lucky for me, they weren't busy. I was charged a small install fee for the card (to save myself the headache really) and they took care of the rest.

I left an extremely satisfied customer and now have turned into an Anitec fanboy. I used to shop at NCIX, but no longer. I would rather have the good service at Anitec than the "GET A NUMBER AND WAIT" service at NCIX.

I can't comment on the delivery and shipping options, but what I CAN tell you is that they helped me out to my car because of a bad back. Would NCIX do that for you? No, they'd just give you a cart. <3 Anitec!!

Poor Product and Service

By: nacnud
Date: Jan 13, 2008

Comment:
Their prices may be cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you run into problems, good luck! Two out of three items I ordered were defective and dealing with their Customer Service or RMA department is like dealing with the Black Hole in the Universe. They don;t return phone calls and emails are responded in one to two weeks, The amount of money in question is small but I feel that my experiences with Anitec should be known by others. More details to follow once I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB.

WARNING

By: meja
Date: Dec 7, 2007

Comment:
Once this retailer has your $$ that's it.
THEY WILL NOT take back anything, and do not have to supply a reason. I recently purchased a product with was faulty and went to get a replacement within 5 days, and all they offered to do was to send it to the manufacturer for warranty..
they do state this on a small sign at the
repair desk..
Never again.

Very Poor Service

By: mattmcp

I attempted to purchase a 37" Viewsonic LCD TV on Anitec.ca's site and the order was accepted. The receipt showed that I paid $120 for FedEx Ground shipping.

After two days I had not received a tracking number so I called Anitec. They told me they were looking into alternative shipping methods because the package was too big for FedEx. They said to expect a phone call the next day explaining the details.

Two days later I received an e-mail saying the order was canceled. Apparently they could not find a way to ship a TV from Vancouver to Ottawa. Price was not an issue because they told me that the shipping price would likely change.

A mail-order retailer that cannot ship the items it stocks isn't much of a mail-order retailer.

Anitec Shipping Ram to Toronto

By: jcoltage
Date: Jul 7, 2007

Comment:
I just purchased some DDR2 ram and found that it was a great price, fair bit of selection and shipping was a bit overpriced for some ram. In the end I forgot to download the Rebate form which I thought would be included with the receipt but they emailed me the PDF one. Overall I would shop there again but the Shipping from B.C. to GTA kind of put me off, if there was a better selection for shipping options which would be a bit slower but cost cheaper I would take that. If you purchase an item outside B.C you save the PST so it somewhat covers the Shipping cost. There customer service and website design is far better than Tigerdirect.

AMAZING..

I bought an entire PC from these guys, I am all the way in Toronto and I still was able to save a fortune on their great deals.. I bought 4 GB of DDR2 for 199 because of their mother's day sale.

I STRONGLY suggest anyone looking to build a new rig to buy from these guys, you may pay a tad bit more on shipping if your not in B.C but damn the savings are more then enough, some items were almost half the cost of those at TigerDirect.

Thanks Anitec. :)

OK online store

By: apvm
Date: Mar 27, 2007

Comment:
I usually buy my computer stuff locally or thru NCIX or Direct Canada but since they offered free shipping last time and I had something that I wanted on their special list so ordered 1st time from them on Thursday and they all arrived Tuesday. Not bad for free shipping. Packing is alright. Prices are usually higher than NCIX and don't price match but if they offer free shipping again, it is worth it.

knowlegable staff

By: ruriko
Date: Aug 30, 2006

Comment:
First of all, I am not very knowlegable about computers or computer parts. Last time when I had trouble with my computer, I brought my computer to them for service recommended by a friend. The technician who fixed my computer was to the point, and got his ideas across when he tried to explain to me whats happening to my computer. He pinpointed the problem area in my computer and we found out why my computer kept on crashing for no apparent reason. Now I know why I should not place my computer near warm places.....

I give Anitec 5/5 on services and support and product met expectations: the parts the technician suggested and replaced for me works nicely. Since I live locally so I don't need anything delivered so I'll remain neutral on that section. Overall, I think Anitec is a good place to have computers serviced.

Highly Recommend Store

By: xpalomino
Date: Aug 28, 2006

Comment:
Very competitive prices. Knowledgeable sales staff...the sales person I delt with answered all of my questions about the notebooks I was looking at. He was very confident and at no point pressured me into buying. He actually down-sold me a different notebook cause he said I don't need most of those features. Before going to Anitec, my friends refered me to other similar stores but Anitec really stood out in the end because of their professional manner. Don't want to discriminate or anything but after going to about 8 store's in Vancouver they seem to be the only ones that have people working there that can communicate in proper English.

in stock....haha, yeah right

By: icantswim
Date: Feb 13, 2006

Comment:
I chose Anitec for their prices, on a few of the items I was seeking they had the lowest cost (and all items were listed in stock, or at the warehouse), but I was to pay for it in the end.

Where to start...

Firstly, they're online bank payment option does not include several major banks, including mine. I was forced to withdraw cash and have my brother use his bank account to make the purchase.

I recieved an e-mail immediately thanking me for my order, which was little more than an invoice and a promise "If there is a problem with your order, we will notify you by email or phone call. For further assistance, please email to shipping@anitec.ca quoting your Order Number for faster response."

I thought all was good until several days passed without any notification, only by logging onto their site periodically did I know if anything was happening at all, it took 2 days to confirm my payment and then my order sat as processing for 2 weeks.

I was never contacted by phone or e-mail to let me know they had sold me an item they didn't have. Rather sneakily they changed the status on the website for the video card from "Available" to "Taking Orders" (a few days after my order), and then later removed altogether after I e-mailed them asking what the holdup was.

What upsets me is that they tried to hide the fact they had no stock, making false promises to lure in customers. Had I known I'd be waiting 2 weeks before delivery, I would have gone to my local store or ordered through NCIX.com and paid a little extra.
