Service is reliable and consistent and the prices are much better than in-store. That is why I buy 95% of all my books online from Chapters.Indigo.ca. I usually wait until I need 2 or more books so that I can take advantage of the free shipping offer with a minimum order of $39 - its a very reasonable threshold. On some orders, I've had books arrive in less than 3 days with free shipping! However, lately I've noticed that the books take a little longer to arrive when I select the free shipping offer. Nonetheless, they arrives arrive within a week and its worth the wait for the discount off the cover price and the free shipping. Another change that I've noticed lately is that they are taking more care to cushion and wrap the books to ensure there is no damage during the shipping process. Since a lot of my purchases are for gifts, I can always count on my purchases to arrive in perfect condition. In my books, this retailer sets the standard for online shopping (sorry for the pun...).

Shipping free for 39 over and it ships as books becomes available.

Amazon ship all at once... so if you order 3 books from amazon and one not available until September 2008 you have wait for a long time.

Indigo on the other hand ships as books becomes available.

Plus if you have the member ship card you get an additional 5 % off your purchases. Web site is easy to navigate.

I find that ordering with Indigo is a good interface and process. It's clear and I know what steps I need to take. I like that it shows me how much, with discounts and other fees on the side as I am navigating.

My only complaint is that as I am browsing books, I like to place them in my shopping cart, because I will have intention of buying them. However, maybe not right now. Maybe I only want to buy 2/ 5 books that I picked. I now have to remove ALL my items, somehow remember which books I've picked, and purchase, and perhaps I may never buy the books again.
I would like to see soemthing like a "hold for later" (amazon.com has this) and purchase what I need for now.
This will provide convenience and people returning to the website to possibly buy more.

My other concern is the huge price difference between in store purchases and online. It's the list price on the back of the book that is discounted. The list price is placed there by the publisher.Knowing this, I find it inconvenient for me to order online, when I would like to buy the book on site if I'm browsing the store.

shortly after placing my order, I recieved a confirmation email, with all the details I needed to know (price, cancelling the order, and confirmation number). exactly 24 hours later, they sent me another email, this time saying that my order had been sent out. I recieved my book 10 days later. it felt very easy and convenient to use and I would definetely use it again the next time I need to buy a book.
