Visit retailer's websiteBookCloseouts.com is one of North America's largest sellers of Bargain Books. Bargain Books are new, unread books that the publisher sells-off in volume to reduce excess inventory. Sometimes the publisher printed too many copies, in other cases bookstores purchased too many copies and have returned them to the publisher for credit. The books therefore have been handled a few times but are still in readable condition. The large selection of books they have available are at highly discounted prices. If you are searching by category and not for a specific item, this is a great place to start. It is not uncommon to find books up to 80% off. Prices are in US Dollars, but they ship from Canada, so you will not have to pay duty. They also have one location in St. Catherines, Ontario.

I love shopping from Bookcloseouts.com

The only problem with shopping here is that I sometimes spend too much - hardly their fault.
The selection varies, of course, but I've found some very surprising books here (surprising that they would have them in stock, and so cheaply, too!).
I have had them run out of stock on my purchases before shipping twice, I believe. One thing - you can't modify your order after placing it, you could only cancel and re-order if you're quick enough.
Shipping is a bit pricey in comparison to the price of the books, so I don't just order one book. Order more and the price goes down.
Staff very helpful and polite whenever I've needed them.
Writing this review has made me want to go check out what they have on sale now!

I mostly purchase manga from BookCloseouts since they have a fairly large selection of TokyoPop manga for $4 a piece. Shipping isn't free but very reasonable. They charge US$ but are based in Ontario so never any customs charges. The only gripe I have is that they don't deactivate the security stickers inside the books (most manga volumes have these) so every time I go to pick up the package from Shopper's Drug Mart, it'll set off the alarm, very annoying. This is however a minor point and I highly recommend BookCloseouts.

Wonderful 1st experience

I've bought discounted books before, with the slashed side upfront at warehouse sales, but never online.
I was a little worried about what the state of the book would be (if it were part of scratch and dent) or how they would slash the book. The order was great, better than I had expected, except for the fact that the markings were a bit out of hand in my opinion, but hey, for the price I paid, I still love it!
The website may not be the best when it comes to searching for books, seeing as there are so many, but I felt that it was worth searching through.
I was also very impressed by their shipping speed. Got my order within 3 days.
I'll be going back for more soon...

I love this site. I'm not sure how they do it but every book is discounted 50% to 80% and they are new unread books. Crazy! Apparently they also have a huge retail store in St. Catharines, ON (905-641-4581) called Book Depot.

Unwieldly site but filled with hidden gems

I have made numerous purchases (10+) over the past few months. Shipping is always fast and the shipping costs are usually fairly reasonable for the actual postage and materials. Remember that ALL prices are in American $. You also cannot cancel an order after you submit it (unlike amazon.ca which I love because I can always change my mind before shipment).
My only problem was when a book was not available after my purchase but they didn't consult with me whether I still wanted the remainder of my purchase.
Most books are in decent, almost new, shape, except for a black mark on the edge of the book, which may or may not be there.
The good books go fast.. the wishlist function is very nice though for letting you know when your books finally arrive.
